Customer-first trust policy

Policy version: 2026-10-03

Core principle: Help the customer make the right purchase first. Earn from the resulting traffic second.

Organic ranking rules

Query/category relevance first; ties use the lowest current listed item price, then product title. Affiliate commission, sponsorship, advertising spend and OPF ownership are ignored.

Retailer offers with known shipping are ordered by known delivered cost first; offers with unknown shipping remain explicitly unknown and are not treated as free shipping. Commercial relationships are ignored.

Commercial relationships

OPF may earn commission from qualifying retailer referrals. Affiliate relationships do not improve organic recommendation or comparison rank.

Sponsored or paid placements must be clearly labelled and remain separate from organic AI/MCP rankings.

Freshness and retailer verification

Price and stock are retailer listing snapshots. OPF exposes the latest recorded check where available; the retailer remains the final authority for current price, stock, shipping and terms.

Customer-first principles

  1. Relevance comes before revenue. Organic recommendations must match the customer’s request before any commercial consideration.
  2. Sponsored or paid placements must be clearly labelled and remain separate from organic rankings.
  3. Affiliate relationships must be disclosed and must not improve organic ranking.
  4. Wato’s products follow the same organic comparison rules as every other retailer or brand.
  5. Useful benchmark products may be included even when OPF earns no commission from them.
  6. Unknown shipping must stay unknown; OPF must never silently treat it as free shipping.
  7. Price and stock freshness should be shown where available, and the retailer remains the final authority.
  8. Rankings should be explainable using customer-facing factors such as relevance, price, shipping, stock and product fit.
  9. OPF must not invent specifications, advantages, stock claims, urgency or scarcity.
  10. A customer’s stated requirements override popularity, commission and advertising relationships.
  11. Sponsored placements cannot rewrite or secretly influence organic rankings.
  12. Advertising and product comparison remain separate surfaces with clear labels.
  13. AI tools should provide useful choices and evidence rather than pressure a customer into a purchase.
  14. Known delivered cost is preferred when it can be calculated; unknown freight is not guessed.
  15. Commercial relationships are disclosed when relevant to a customer’s decision.
  16. Safety, legality and product suitability override monetisation.
  17. Equivalent retailers and products are evaluated using consistent standards.
  18. Customers and retailers should be able to report incorrect prices, links, stock or specifications.
  19. OPF keeps ranking logic auditable so accidental commercial bias can be detected.
  20. Core principle: help the customer make the right purchase first; earn from the resulting traffic second.
